Common questions.
What happens if an ambulance is called, and what does that cost me?
Procedure for a possible door opening The locked door will always be opened with the least possible damage; if necessary, access will be provided via an open window or balcony door. Forcible entry is necessary only in a few cases. The building will subsequently always be secured by the emergency services or the police so that no unauthorized person can enter the building. If the locking cylinder is replaced, the new key will be handed over to a relative or the wearer themselves.
Costs for a door opening Emergency services generally do not charge any costs. If costs are incurred nonetheless, these are usually covered by the health insurance company. Any costs incurred for damages or replacement of the locking cylinders on the door depend on local circumstances. For guidance, you are welcome to contact a local locksmith.
Information sharing with relatives If the bracelet wearer appears confused, is demented, or is in shock, the emergency services will also contact relatives. The same generally applies if the wearer is taken to a hospital. As soon as we have transmitted the emergency call to the emergency services, further communication with both the wearer and relatives will be exclusively via the emergency services. We do not receive any further information about the course of the rescue operation and can therefore unfortunately not provide any further details.
Note: For the Plus and Premium subscriptions, information about key storage can be stored in the app. We do not provide a care service or a key box ourselves, but we enable the secure storage of relevant information in the app.
You can choose between several possible storage locations for your key and store corresponding information there:
Key box
Neighbour
Care service
Other
This allows emergency service personnel to quickly access this information in an emergency and open the door with the help of the stored key.
What happens when an alarm goes out?
The emergency process can be triggered in two different ways:
1) You press and hold the fixed emergency button on the bracelet for 3 seconds, thereby activating the emergency process yourself.
2) The fall detection of the Gardia emergency bracelet detects a fall and automatically initiates the emergency process.
In both cases, whether manual or automatic, the bracelet vibrates, flashes, and beeps for 20 seconds. During this time, the wearer has the option to cancel the emergency call by repeatedly pressing the emergency button. This can be helpful if the emergency call was triggered unintentionally. If the emergency call is not cancelled, an emergency call is sent to the My Gardia App of the emergency contacts.
After a successful emergency call has been placed, your emergency contacts will be immediately informed via the My Gardia App and can establish a direct voice connection with you or navigate to your location.
Should you have additionally booked the Bosch emergency call centre, your emergency call will be forwarded directly to a 24/7 emergency call centre. This centre can establish a voice connection with you and take all necessary measures to get you help as quickly as possible.
