Did you know that unnecessary emergency calls can be avoided?
An emergency wristband can save lives – and the Gardia emergency wristband is made precisely for that.
It is reliable, safe, and establishes a direct connection to your emergency contacts or our 24/7 emergency call center in an emergency. To ensure everything runs smoothly, there is an option to perform a test emergency call after setup. This test is important to ensure that the connection is established correctly and that everything works as it should. However, after this test, it is not necessary to constantly re-test the system – because the Gardia emergency wristband is already optimally configured.
Why is the test emergency call
necessary?
Once your Gardia emergency wristband has been set up and you have selected your desired subscription model, you can make a one-time test emergency call. This test serves to:
- check whether the emergency call is made correctly.
- test whether your emergency contacts or the emergency call center are reachable.
- test whether the voice connection and localization function flawlessly.
- give you peace of mind that your emergency wristband works reliably.
How the test emergency call works
Once you have successfully set up your Gardia emergency bracelet and selected your subscription, a red bar will appear at the top with the message: “Test emergency call still pending - Start test emergency call.” Clicking on this will take you to the test emergency call mask to carry out the process.
If your emergency contacts are to be notified before the emergency call center, please follow these steps:
- Familiarize yourself with the emergency process: Check whether you can easily call the bracelet and speak to the wearer.
- Coordinate with each other: Each emergency contact should carry out a test call themselves. During a test call, the other emergency contacts should not answer the incoming test call.
- Wearer manually triggers test emergency call: Only the wearer can start a test call using the button on the bracelet. The wearer should do this for each test call and thus for each emergency contact individually.
If you do not have emergency contacts or if the emergency call center is set as the first point of contact, the test emergency call can also be carried out. Important: The emergency call center treats every incoming emergency call as a real emergency. Therefore, it is essential that you immediately clarify that it is a test emergency call.
Once the test has been successfully completed, no further test emergency calls are required. The Gardia emergency bracelet is optimally set up and functions reliably in an emergency.
One test emergency call is sufficient
To ensure that everything is working correctly, a test emergency call can be made after setting up the device. This initial test is important to check the system and give the user peace of mind.
Some users may want to reconfirm that the system is working perfectly after the first test, or they may have questions about whether everything is set up correctly. It's perfectly natural to feel a bit unsure at the beginning. However, it's important to know that the test emergency call is only necessary once to ensure the wristband is functioning properly. The Gardia emergency call wristband system is reliable, and there is no reason to test it repeatedly.
Every emergency call received by the emergency call center is classified as a real emergency.
An employee responds immediately to initiate rescue measures if necessary.
If a person only wants to "test" again, they occupy an employee during this time who could otherwise attend to a person in a life-threatening situation more quickly.
Sometimes it can also happen that users accidentally trigger an emergency call and do not cancel it. Some simply let the emergency call continue because they don't
know how to stop it, or because they think it's "not that
bad". However, every unnecessary emergency call means that the
emergency call center spends time and resources on a non-emergency,
while a real emergency might have to wait a little longer somewhere
than actually necessary.
When an emergency call is received, an employee immediately contacts the wearer of the
emergency call wristband and clarifies the situation.
However, if too many test emergency calls or false alarms are received, this means:
- An employee is occupied with an unnecessary emergency call.
- A real emergency could come in during this time and be delayed.
- The entire system is utilized more than it needs to be.
Every second counts in a real emergency! That's why it's so important that the emergency call center is not tied up with unnecessary additional test emergency calls or accidental emergency calls, but is available for real emergencies.
Avoiding False Alarms: How to
Cancel an Emergency Call
The Gardia emergency wristband is designed so that accidentally triggered emergency calls can be easily cancelled. If an emergency call is triggered by mistake, e.g., by accidentally pressing the button, you can simply stop it.
When an emergency call is triggered, the wristband vibrates, flashes, and emits loud sounds for 20 seconds. During this time, the wearer can cancel the emergency call by pressing the emergency button again for more than 3 seconds. This means the wearer feels, hears, and sees that an emergency call has been triggered and can easily cancel it themselves if they do not want an emergency call to be sent out. This immediately stops the alarm, and neither the emergency contacts nor the emergency call center are alerted.
Every user should memorize this simple action. It is important to know that a triggered emergency call should not simply be ignored. As soon as you notice that the emergency call was sent erroneously, you should cancel it immediately.
This means:
- No unnecessary deployment for the emergency call center.
- No accidental alarming of your emergency contacts.
- You have full control over your emergency wristband.
Please use this function – this way, we jointly ensure that the emergency call center is not unnecessarily burdened.
Help relieve the burden on emergency services
Experience shows that over 90% of incoming emergency calls at the emergency call center come from people who do not need actual help – whether due to accidentally triggered alarms or repeated test emergency calls. By canceling an unintentional emergency call directly on the wristband, you help ensure that the system is always ready for real emergencies.
Your Gardia emergency call wristband was developed to function reliably – a single test is completely sufficient. If an emergency call is accidentally triggered, you can easily stop it by pressing and holding the emergency button.
To ensure quick help in an emergency, it is crucial to avoid unnecessary false alarms. Every user can actively contribute to ensuring that real emergency calls are processed without delay. By canceling false alarms in time, the emergency call center remains unburdened and the processing time for actual emergencies does not increase. This way, together, we ensure that help can be provided as quickly as possible in an emergency.
It also brings benefits for you personally to quickly cancel an unintentional emergency call. On the one hand, you relieve the emergency call center and help ensure that immediate action can be taken in real emergencies. On the other hand, the battery life of your Gardia emergency call wristband is significantly extended. Normally, the battery lasts up to 21 days, but frequent, unnecessary emergency calls can significantly increase power consumption. By stopping accidentally triggered emergency calls in time, you benefit twice: your device remains operational longer, and the emergency call center can concentrate on real emergencies.
A win-win situation for everyone!
