Your Questions, Our Answers: Everything You Need to Know About the Gardia Emergency Bracelet
Dear Readers,
We are delighted that you are interested in our magazine and especially in the Gardia emergency wristband. We regularly receive numerous questions about our Gardia emergency call system. We will provide a general overview of our emergency wristband, its functions, and the emergency process. Afterwards, we will answer specific questions from our interested parties in an interview.
What is the Gardia Emergency Wristband?
The Gardia emergency wristband is an innovative emergency call system specially developed for use in emergency situations. It combines state-of-the-art technology with simple operation, thus providing a reliable way to quickly call for help in an emergency. A particularly noteworthy feature is the integrated fall detection, which automatically places an emergency call if a fall is detected.
How does the Gardia Emergency Wristband work?
In the event of a fall, an alarm is automatically triggered and sent to a predefined emergency call center or to relatives. In addition, the wearer can manually place an emergency call at any time by pressing the corresponding button on the wristband.
What distinguishes the Gardia Emergency Wristband from a conventional smartwatch?
A key difference between the Gardia emergency wristband and a conventional smartwatch lies in its specialization for emergency situations. While smartwatches offer numerous functions such as fitness tracking, messaging, and apps, the Gardia emergency wristband focuses on the core task of providing quick help in an emergency. It is particularly user-friendly, has a long battery life, and is robustly built to function reliably even in difficult situations.
What other advantages does the Gardia Emergency Wristband offer?
- Automatic fall detection: The wristband automatically detects falls and immediately places an emergency call, even if the wearer is unable to call for help themselves.
- Easy handling: The operation of the wristband is intuitive and requires no technical knowledge.
- Works at home and on the go: The emergency wristband has an integrated SIM card and can therefore be used outside the home, across Europe.
- Manual emergency call function: An emergency call can be manually triggered at any time by pressing a button.
- Long battery life: The Gardia emergency wristband is characterized by a particularly long battery life, allowing it to be worn reliably for up to 21 days.
- Robust, modern design: The wristband is specially designed for daily use and can withstand adverse conditions.
Who is the Gardia Emergency Wristband suitable for?
The Gardia emergency wristband is particularly suitable for elderly people, individuals with health limitations, or people living alone who need quick help in an emergency. It provides an additional sense of security and the assurance that a quick response will be made in an emergency.
Interview with a Gardia employee and your most frequent questions!
Does the wristband also work without an app and smartphone? (Susanne, 65)
Gardia employee: Yes, for the wearer, Gardia also works without the Gardia app or a smartphone, because Gardia itself is the smallest mobile phone in the world thanks to the integrated eSIM card. For device setup and notifications in case of an emergency, as well as navigation to the emergency location, a compatible smartphone is absolutely necessary for emergency contacts.
How does the switch to Gardia work if one is already covered by another provider and has a care level? (Peter, 72)
Gardia employee: The monthly subscription for the Gardia emergency wristband is covered by long-term care insurance funds from care level 1 onwards. Switching to Gardia is uncomplicated.
You have two options if you are legally insured: Either cancel your existing contract with your previous provider and apply for cost reimbursement via our own online application process, or subscribe to the Gardia NotfallPlus subscription first and submit your change application to your long-term care insurance fund with the first invoice.
If you are privately insured, please submit a change application to your long-term care insurance fund. In the future, you can then submit the invoices for the subscription to your long-term care insurance fund so that they can reimburse the contributions for the NotfallPlus subscription (Basic Package + Emergency Call Center).
You will soon find the change application on our website as well.
We will also inform you about this in our newsletter.
What exactly does the long-term care insurance fund cover? (Luisa, 61)
Gardia employee: In the event of successful cost reimbursement by your long-term care insurance fund, it will cover the monthly costs for the subscription for legally insured persons. Privately insured persons must book the NotfallPlus subscription for 32.90 Euros. Long-term care insurance funds generally cover 30.35 Euros. The difference of 2.55 Euros must be paid by the applicant themselves.
I simply don't have anyone I can list as an emergency contact or where I can leave the keys to the apartment. I fall more often at home at 61. What if I can no longer open the door and the emergency medical team is at the doorstep? Will the door then be opened by force? What costs will arise? What if it was a false alarm?
Gardia employee: If you do not have an emergency contact with whom you can leave your keys or who can come to your aid in an emergency, you have the option of using our professional 24/7 emergency call center. In an emergency, they will initiate the necessary rescue measures with you. If you need an emergency doctor, the rescue service will gain access to your apartment. The door will not be damaged; the cylinder lock will be replaced with a special tool and then reinstated. In all cases known to us, the insurance company covers the costs.
With traditional providers who hold keys, it usually takes 15-20 minutes for help with keys to arrive in an emergency. With us, it's about speed, because every second counts in an emergency, and the rescue service is usually on site within 2-5 minutes.
You will not incur any costs for a false alarm. You have the option to speak with the contact person in the emergency call center via the emergency wristband and let them know that it is a false alarm.
How does an emergency service deployment work and what costs do I incur? (Maria, 70)
Procedure for a possible door opening
A locked door is always opened with the least possible damage; if necessary, access is gained through an open window or balcony door. Breaking down the door is only necessary in very few cases. The building is then always secured by the rescue workers or the police, so that no unauthorized person can enter the building. In the event of a lock cylinder replacement, the new key is handed over to a relative or the wearer themselves.
Rescue workers generally do not charge any fees. If costs are incurred, they are usually covered by the health insurance. Any costs for damage or replacement of the lock cylinders on the door depend on local circumstances. For guidance, you can contact a local locksmith.
I have concerns about data protection at Gardia, particularly who has access to my personal and medical data, how my location data is used, whether my data is passed on to third parties, how it is secured, and whether I always have the right to delete it. (Rudolf, 70)
Gardia employee: At Gardia, we take your privacy very seriously. Your personal and medical data are treated strictly confidentially and are only accessible to authorized employees and service providers who are directly involved in your care. Your location data is transmitted exclusively to the emergency call center and emergency contacts in an emergency to provide you with assistance as quickly as possible. Your data is stored securely and protected from unauthorized access by modern security measures. You have the right to view, correct, or delete your data at any time. If you have any further questions or require additional information, we are always available to assist you.
Why does the emergency wristband have a Spanish number? Are there additional costs if you call the emergency wristband? (Ulrike, 42)
Gardia employee: The Gardia emergency wristband has a Spanish eSIM permanently installed. The background to this is as follows: The Gardia wristband currently operates on the basis of the 2G network, as it offers the highest network coverage throughout Germany. Since various network providers (e.g., Telekom) are represented to different extents in different regions, one of our goals was to offer the best network, regardless of the provider, in the respective emergency situation. The installed eSIM allows Gardia to dial into the existing network with the strongest signal quality. When calling the installed Spanish eSIM, additional costs may arise. Please inquire about the amount of these costs with your network provider.
How exactly do emergency contacts work? How long does an emergency call last, and what happens if none of the emergency contacts are able to answer an incoming emergency call? (Eva, 48)
Gardia employee: An emergency call is sent simultaneously to all emergency contacts, meaning you cannot set a specific order. Emergency contacts then have 2 minutes to respond to the emergency call. If none of the emergency contacts are able to answer the call, the call will be repeated for another 2 minutes. The call will be repeated until one of the emergency contacts answers it. This repeats 15 times, for a total of 30 minutes. If you have additionally booked the NotfallPlus subscription, the professional 24/7 BOSCH emergency call center will intervene after 2 failed attempts to reach private emergency contacts. If none of the emergency contacts have answered or if the 24/7 Bosch emergency call center is set as a priority, the emergency call will be handled by trained personnel. They see the incoming emergency call and the wearer's location in the center and arrange appropriate rescue measures. They contact the local emergency services for the wearer.
The private emergency contact who first answers the emergency call has the option to establish a voice connection with the wearer and simultaneously receives the wearer's location in the My Gardia App for navigation. All other emergency contacts can also call the wearer on the wristband afterward. They also receive the emergency location in the My Gardia App.
We hope that we have been able to answer many of your questions with this article. If you have further questions or are interested in our emergency wristband, please do not hesitate to contact us. You can thoroughly test our wristband within the framework of our 30-day money-back guarantee.
